Who we are
Yes is an award winning Charity established over 10 years ago to help Manchester residents to access employment, volunteering and learning opportunities, improve their digital skills, and achieve their ambitions. We are a provider of supportive, whole-person information, advice and guidance for unemployed and
under-employed individuals across Manchester.
Our vision
We exist to “build confidence, drive ambition and inspire people to be the best that they can be”.
We succeed only when our customers succeed – by getting a new or better job, or by getting into volunteering or training.
What do we do?
In our two offices, each based in an LSOA in the first decile of the 2019 IMD rankings, we offer free access to more than 50 internet enabled workstations where our customers can apply for work, develop their skills and receive coaching and mentoring in the use of digital equipment from our volunteer ‘Digital Champions’. People in north Manchester view yes as ‘their’ service – they trust us and we have a proven ability to work with individuals that have struggled to work with the Job Centre or other more formal settings.
We use a bespoke assessment tool to help us and the customer to understand why getting back into work is difficult, and we work with them to develop an action plan to address the issues identified.
We help our customers to build CVs, search for jobs and complete applications, as well as referring them to long-standing partners to get help with debt, health, relationship issues. We also refer customers to training providers so clients can access skills training. In all cases, we track progress through regular progress discussions.
We work with local employers, filling their vacancies and to provide work placement opportunities – providing valuable opportunities to gain experience, confidence – and perhaps even a reference!
Once in work, we continue contact and support for as long as needed.
Our values
Everything we do is informed by our core values, which are that we are always positive, community focused and person-centred.
Whatever the circumstances, our team will find positives and help customers to focus on these, and to sell these to employers as they search for their next opportunity. It’s not easy to spot transferable skills for example – and our team are experts!
Many of the team live or have lived in our communities, or in similar communities elsewhere. We know the difference jobs and training makes not just to an individual, but to their families – and their income will support other parts of the community too.
Everyone is much more than the sum of our skills and work experience, and it is this whole person that looks for work. We help customers to understand how their relationships, health, finances and more impact them. And where they need help, we support them to get it.

Working with us
As well as working with north Manchester residents, we also work alongside employers to help them recruit local people into a range of employment opportunities. We have a tailored approach to working with employers to suit their needs, adding value to any recruitment process at no cost. We have great candidates and in some circumstances can collate CVs and pre-interview applicants to produce short-lists.
