Being a new Mum, trying to find a job and studying can be very challenging.
But the inspiring story of one lady proves when you have the right guidance and support, anything is possible.
Jane came to YES when she needed a part-time job following a two-year career break to care for her baby.
She wanted to use her skills in hospitality, cleaning and customer service, but in a different sector. So, she embarked on a course in Health and Social Care with the Global Banking School.
As part of her studies, she took on a 60-hour role with us at YES, as a Digital Support Volunteer. In the role, she helped individuals access online health services, boosting her confidence and expanding her skillset by combining care work with digital literacy. She also got her own tailored support from YES, including on CV development and job applications.
So, she used the opportunity as a springboard in her quest for a part-time job. And following her experience with YES, she applied for a Security Officer training course, offering her a clear pathway to employment. After completing the training, she got something she wanted – a job!
Jane’s Yes Manchester Employment Advisor shared: “Jane’s resilience and dedication are truly inspiring. Balancing studies, work, and motherhood is no easy feat, but she has tackled every challenge with focus and determination. She’s a shining example of what’s possible with the right support and a strong will.”
Congratulations Jane!
