Middleton local gains support from YES Manchester at Avenue Library Outreach Days

Fu, a resident of Middleton, faced a significant challenge in her job search: she didn’t have access to the internet at home. Determined to improve her situation, Fu began visiting The Avenue Library, a mere eight-minute walk from her home.

It was during one of these visits that she noticed a table set up by YES Manchester, a local charity dedicated to helping local residents find meaningful employment.

Here, Fu learned about YES Manchester’s Library Outreach Days, an initiative designed to bring their resources closer to the community. She discovered that YES offers a wide range of support for individuals who are unemployed or working in low-paid or insecure jobs.

This support includes help with job searches, CV writing, skill-building, and general employment advice.

Fu decided to take advantage of the opportunity and sought help from YES to create a CV. With their guidance, she crafted a professional CV that reflected her skills and experience, giving her the confidence to begin her job search.

Reflecting on her experience, Fu said: “YES has helped me with my CV at The Avenue Library, and at this moment I don’t think it can get any better because of the support I received in writing it.”

Tim O’Neill, Operations Manager at YES Manchester, expressed his enthusiasm for Fu’s progress and the broader impact of the charity’s work: “YES are committed to supporting Greater Manchester residents in their journey to meaningful employment.

“We’re happy to hear that Fu has gained the support she needs from us and that we have provided her with a hub nearer to her home so that she can access our resources easily.”

By bridging the gap between local residents and employment resources, YES Manchester is helping people like Fu take critical steps toward building a brighter future.

For Fu, the journey began with a simple walk to her local library— start your journey to #MeaningfulEmployment with YES Manchester now.
