Employability day 2022!

Friday 17th June marked this year’s Employability Day!#EmpDay22.
An opportunity for employers, charities, and other organisations to celebrate their fantastic work in supporting local people into employment.

This year’s celebrations saw the Yes team hitting the streets of north Manchester to raise awareness around their free employment support services, promoting new vacancies and opportunities, and engaging with local employers as well as people in the community.

With balloons in tow, the Yes Team set out from their Newton Heath base on Briscoe Lane, splitting into two groups to cover more ground, with stops on the tour including Yes Collyhurst, The Avenue library in Blackley, Harpurhey shopping centre, Manchester Fort in Cheetham Hill, Sainsbury’s in Heaton Park, Asda Eastlands and more!

As well as having the opportunity to chat to some fantastic north Manchester residents, the team started conversations with several local businesses, to promote the many benefits of employing local people.

The team scored a great result from their trip to B&M Bargains in Harpurhey, who were keen to link up with the service, booking a recruitment event at the yes centre in Newton Heath to find local people for a number of stock replenishment and checkout operator roles! With the event currently scheduled for Friday 7^th July.

Overall, the day was a great success, and the team are already looking forward to the next one. A big thank you to everyone that the team met along the way, including local residents and staff at the stores visited, who were welcoming and happy to chat to the team on the day!
