Plasterer Traineeship (Newton Heath) – Spray Finish & Boarding

Mansell Building Solutions (MBS) is proud of being a 30 year old specialist contractor
in construction and, more recently, moving into manufacture of buildings at their facility

Salary: £9.50 – £10.75 per hour
Contract: 1 year apprenticeship with permanent job afterwards
Division: On-Site (Silk Street Newton Heath)
Responsible to: Site supervisor


What’s involved
Spray Finisher
• Taping joints in plasterboard under instruction from the Site
• Filling joints in plasterboard under instruction from the Site Manager
• Spray finish on walls using a Graco mark 5 machine
• Sanding walls down to smooth finish
• Applying beads to round windows
• Application of hand jointing to tapered edge joints, butt end joints,
internal and external angles
• Apply plasters to complex internal surface

trainees will work on specific elements of finishing a new building for people to live in, either boarding or spray finishing an offsite panelized structure
on site. We will support the trainee to achieve all work related skills and qualifications to become a qualified operative in either finishing or fixing and
gain an NVQ Level 2. We will help them to gain confidence to continue their development as they move from the trainee role into the fully qualified
workforce at MBS.

Purpose of role

• Measuring and cutting plasterboard to size
• Screw plasterboard onto metal stud partition using a power drill
• Apply plasterboard to structures using direct bonding materials
• Complete repairs to materials and components during installation
as required

• Work to health and safety and quality procedures
• Recording activity using correct protocols and digital systems
• Work in partnership with other agencies and operatives

Applications will be considered and successful candidates will be
invited to an initial four week work and skills experience. There
will be a maximum of 10 candidates on each Build back work
experience, at a training centre in Manchester and then on site with
MBS at one of our various sites around Greater Manchester.
Up to six trainees will be taken on the 12 month apprentice
programme from this workshop.
